Salmon Pool Inn ...................................................$825,000

The Salmon Pool Inn is a business on the Cabot Trail with accommodation and a dining room / pub. On the upper level the main building has three rooms with ensuite bathrooms; two other rooms share a bathroom, and there is large lounge. Downstairs is the kitchen and fully licensed dining room seating 40, with 24 more on the licensed deck outside. A separate 1-bedroom housekeeping cottage is included. All this perched on the banks of the Margaree River and its famous salmon pools.

The Inn

The inn is situated on 4.3 acres with over 1,200 ft of riverfront and gorgeous views up and down the river and across to the hills opposite.

There are 5 rental bedrooms rooms in the two story fully winterized lodge, and a stand-alone self-contained cottage with attached workshop/garage. Recently the dinning room and small kitchen were converted into a licensed restaurant and pub that seats 40 and licensed porch seating 24. There is another living room space for private parties and access for the rooms upstairs.

The Margaree River is famous for its salmon fishery; for more information see and more links there.

The Cabot Trail and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park (30 minutes away) are also legendary.

Inverness and its shops, restaurants, hospital, beaches and Cabot golf courses are 20 minutes away, and the island has several other golf courses. Lovely beaches are close by, including at Margaree Harbour (3 miles up the road), Whale Cove, Chimney Corner, and others.

The Business

The Inn can be open year round. The majority of rentals are in the peak season July – October. The shoulder season is May and June and Mid October to early November. Early Winter bookings come in late December and January. February and March are great months to take off, do renovations and travel yourself. The location is ideal for packaged holidays for groups up to 10. Using online tools most of the season is booked well in advance.

The Inn appeals to the variety of people who are drawn to Cape Breton. Golfers: Groups and individuals are drawn to the 2 Cabot courses and 5 other courses on the island. They come for just Cabot or they do a tour of golf.

Fishers: the Inn has a long history of individuals and groups coming to fish the Margaree Salmon. The Inn is actually on the river and has easy access to all the pools. Local guides are available.

Families and groups of friends make the Inn a destination for reunions and such year round, and Celtic Colours - the fall music festival all over Cape Breton, in mid October - attracts crowds every year.

With current online bookings and web shopping, finding and getting to the Salmon Pool Inn is easy.
