Pikehead Estate, West LA..........................................$225,000

As christened by the owner, Pikehead Estate comprises a 3-level home overlooking Lake Ainslie from a 105 acre property (in two parcels) largely covered by mature hardwoods. The house is almost 3,000 sq ft, most of it finished. Five bedrooms (not counting the lower level) and three bathrooms. The main floor has a huge vaulted ceiling over the living area. All furniture and equipment is included.

The main floor opens to a porch leading into the kitchen, and from there to the airy open space of the main living room with its wood stove. Also on this level is a bedroom with attached bathroom. An open staircase has a 'minstrels gallery' at the top, and leads to two more bedrooms and a bathroom. 

Throughout the house there are many examples of built-in pine furniture - cabinets, shelves, cupboards - and other custom pieces like bookcases, tables, and dressers. All of this, and everything else in the house, is included in the sale.

The lower level, still with large windows, is currently set up as a den/bedroom, a full bathroom including laundry, another bedroom (making 7 total!) and a extensive storage area for bikes or anything else. Last but not least on this tour of the house, a set of patio doors leads to a lovely deck (26x12) looking over the lake.

One problem to mention relates to these patio doors: they have leaked and caused damage to the floor structure underneath. Owner is absent and not able to get this repaired. This situation is more than reflected in the sale price: an awful lot of house and land for the money! 

Nice landscaping around the house, with many boulders a feature, and there's a detached garage, wired. Note that small trees have grown up to obstruct the views from the house and deck. This will be remedied soon, and new view pictures displayed. At the moment it looks like: 

Heat is all electric plus the wood-stove and there's an alarm system. Exterior siding is wood. 

Location

15 miles to Inverness with its shops, restaurants, beach, hospital, golf etc. Half that to Whycocomagh also with gas, groceries, hardware, restaurants etc. Note that this property does not have lake frontage, it is on the high side of the West Lake (paved) road.
