Four islands in the pristine Bras d'Or Lakes are offered as a package. In fact the islands can be considered as two pairs, North and South Cow and North and South Calf. In total, the islands cover approximately 60 acres with an estimated 2.5 miles of water front, including over half a mile of sandy beach.

The islands have never been occupied, never had any trees cut, so in effect are little parcels of untouched wilderness. They lie close offshore from Marble Mountain, and it's just a one mile boat trip from the well-maintained public wharf there, aka Clarke Harbour.

The two Cow islands are joined by a sandbar furnishing a long sandy beach. The Calf islands are separated by another, partly submerged, bar resuting in a sheltered lagoon between the two islands. Building sites can be found on all the islands, facing in any direction of the compass.

Views of the lake and other islands are everywhere you look:

Another island in the area has a large house; materials and equipment were carried by barge, with power provided  by solar panels (getting better and cheaper all the time). Water can be from a well or collected in a cistern.

The islands are wooded, with a mixture of hardwoods and softwoods. Wildlife abounds: birds and fish too numerous to list, including game birds like ducks and geese. Deer visit the islands (they are good swimmers!).

Location

Marble Mountain is a 35 minute drive to Port Hawkesbury and the causeway to mainland Nova Scotia. Port Hawkesbury also has the nearest airport for private jets, hundreds of which land there every year.

The Bras d'Or Lakes system is huge and complex, and includes a passage to the ocean navigable by large ships.
